Committed to the cause

Hey guys, Dayne and Ray here! We are raising money for kids and their families at Ronald McDonald House in Randwick by running 21 half marathons in 21 days.

Kicking off with the Sydney Runaway Half Marathon on Saturday 5th May we will be running 21.12km every day for 21 days finishing our last half marathon on Saturday 25th May.

The families that stay at Ronald McDonald House in Randwick are away from their home, their support system and everything they know. The House provides them with support to ensure they can concentrate on what is most important, their children and family.

These are just a few things Ronald McDonald House in Randwick provide to families

  • A House that is open 365 days a year, to ensure families have a place to stay at no charge
  • Support sick kids and their families through various programs
  • Make sure families have a home cooked meal and most importantly
  • Continue keeping families together during this difficult time

Please support us in helping Ronald McDonald House in Randwick continue providing a warm and supportive home-away-from-home for families of children travelling to the House for treatment.

18-20

Friday 24th May
Day 18&19 are the 2 days where Both of our legs have felt a bit drained and the kms took a bit long to get done. Feeling like you’re so close yet so far type of vibe.Β

Day 20 Ray was joined by Laura, One of his clients and also a Common Ground OG to get his run done. I was joint by Arana freaky runner Taumata a bit later into the afternoon to get mine done.Β
The excitement of nearly finishing this run for Ronald McDonald house and the amount of support we’ve had during it has blown both of us away. The amount support fully sunk in today and it made the day 20 run so much easier.Β
We can’t wait to send it One more time down at Centennial park with everyone for this amazing charity.Β
1 TO GO!!!!

Day 17

Tuesday 21st May
Ray checking in for Day 17

We are on the home stretch for the challenge, today I was at CP solo and Dayne done some laps around Rose Bay because he was working local.

Body was feeling a bit off today couldn't get into a smooth rhythm, Β though the splits weren't too bad. Yesterdays heart rate was higher than normal I think the Sunday hot laps caught up with me, a bit better today but should be completely back to normal tomorrow given the easy effort today.

Crazy to think there's only 4 more days until the end of this challenge, someone took my CP local legend so that's my side quest for this challenge to get it back. Ready for Day 18, Lessgo!

Day 15-16

Monday 20th May
Dayne checking in

Day 15 was our fastest 21.1 km so far!
We were joined by Tom and Arron. Tom has been running for a little while now and has some big challenges coming up later in the year. Arron is a OG and has done around 6 21s with us in this challenge.Β
We headed around centennial chatting about life and future events we are undertaking later in the year, which I think kicked us into another gear putting us into sub 5min kms towards the back end. We finished with a time of 1:50. Was good putting our bodies into another gear but feeling it Day 16.

Day 16 was just the 2 of us around CP this afternoon ray hitting 22km with the body feeling bit twisted from Day 15 and I (Dayno) doing 23km while getting lost in the backroads of CP in the dark.Β
We are both still mentally feeling very good and we are very grateful for all the support we have received during this whole challenge. Bring on the next 5days!!!

Day 14

Saturday 18th May
Common Ground RC set up at CP with a 630am start, bit of drizzle to start with Dugz and Ben. Early start from what we are use too so it was a slow start as always, bit achy from yesterday's push too.Β

Picked up Bell and Kat along thew way, fresh legs is always good to keep the pace and Eno on track. The girls can hold their own that's for sure, trying to hold pace with them was good and we really opened up towards the end dipping into the 4's for the last km. Bit of an extra push for Dugz, the man was moooooving! 14 down, 7 to go!Β

Got some more fresh legs joining tomorrow so we'll have another good morning out at CP! Stomach is feeling better, bit of swelling on the ankle! So keeping off it as much as I can when I'm not running, Day 15 tomorrow lets go!

Day10-13

Friday 17th May
Dayne checking in,
Day 10 started off with a bang its weirdly the best my body felt during this whole challenge so ended up hitting my fastest half marathon at 1hr53min. I Got carried away a little bit and did suffer a little for It on days 11&12 with my legs and hips feeling abit tight and sore.Β
Solo into the night Day 11 and with Arron Day 12 we got it done ate a steady pace.
Β Today I teamed up with Ray and Arron again to attack Day 13, Ray has suffered on his Day 11&12 runs with stomach cramps but came good today. We got through this run pretty smoothly today finishing just as the sun went down. We go into tommorrow with a short 12hr turn around starting at 6;30am with Common Ground at CP. We will get the tunes pumping and the crew vibing it shall be a good day.

Day 8-9/21

Monday 13th May
Had a mad weekend, with a good vibe down at CP. Even though it was raining there were plenty of runners out getting after it. Finding some routine after 8 days, keen to see how far we can keep pushing the body!

Day 10 tomorrow! Keen.

Day 6-7/21

Saturday 11th May
Out for dinner last night and forgot to check in for Day 6, picked up the pace and felt good as well. Got a nice delivery from BSC Supplements, some much needed electrolytes!Β

Rains been going hard the whole mornings for Day 7, about 60mls for the day. We moved our Rose Bay run club to CP today and got a good crew out in the rain!

We are really feeling the support from everyone, feeling blessed.

BIG MOTION!

5/21

Thursday 9th May
~ Dayne in motion,
Today after a messy day scaffolding out in castle hill. I made my way straight to CP to get my 21.12km done. I was just over 3kms in when I was joined by Arron who's one of the boys from common ground. Yarning along the way it still took around 12 km to find a good flow. Once we found the flow the rest was all fun and we both got the 21km just before the sun went down. Was a good vibe today but now time to recover and best ready for a early one tommorrow.

Day 4/21

Wednesday 8th May
Late start today and changed up the route and hit the streets of Rose Bay and Bondi. Bit stop and start with traffic etc, the revival water fountain wasn't out of order as well so woolies pit stop for some hydration.Β

Schedule lined up with Dayne so we done Day 4 together, back at CP tomorrow for some laps.

Day 3/21

Tuesday 7th May
Starting a challenge there's always a level of excitement and nervousness, so we're riding this wave of excitement for as long as we can.

Pumped out todays effort straight after work around midday, managed to finish up just as the rain picked up again.

Ready for Day 4, Lets Go!

Day 2/21

Monday 6th May
Couple laps around CP today, weather was a lot better than yesterday. Feeling good but riding this wave of feeling good for as long as I can, because I know it’s only because I’m still geed about the challenge. Tried to pull back today but the playlist was too hot, bit of rnb to try stay in zone 2.

Day 1/21

Sunday 5th May
Day 1 with the Hoka Half Marathon, vibes were on today! Excited and nervous for the next 20 days, those Sydney hills are always tough!Β

Body and mind is feeling good, finished off with a bacon, egg and hash brown. Home for some R & R, let’s see if tomorrow’s weather is any better! Β
